My love for quirky things sparked a dream named Nasheeli Botlan. It was all about creating fun, unique products like diaries and cushion covers, each with a touch of Delhi's charm. This venture was my first step into a world where everyday items turned into sources of joy. But life had other plans. Moving to Mumbai meant leaving behind the dream as the local flavors and slang that inspired my creations in Delhi didn't resonate here. So, I shifted gears and started a design agency.
The Challenge of Moving On:
Transitioning away from Nasheeli Botlan wasn't easy. I faced the hard truth of unsold products—a clear sign of how tricky predicting market trends can be. This period taught me valuable lessons about the quirkiness being deeply tied to local culture. Whether it's the architectural beauty of Jaipur or the bustling streets of Mumbai, each place has its own vibe that needs to be captured uniquely.
Creating Chor Sipahi: Despite the setback, the urge to create never faded. Eight years into running a successful design agency, I launched Chor Sipahi with my co-founder—who's been my half-sister, partner in crime, and sometimes, a guiding figure like a mother. The name 'Chor Sipahi' resonated with me; it felt right. I noticed a gap in the market for the kind of designs I yearned for—vibrant colors, bold captions, and laughter-inducing quirkiness. That's where Chor Sipahi comes in, aiming to fill that gap left by others.
Even though I have a team of talented designers, I often dive into the design process myself. It's important for me that each product not only comes from our collective creativity but also has my personal touch, ensuring that every piece we put out there carries a bit of our soul.
